In a first-time DUI case, you can expect to pay up to $5,000 in fines and court costs, lose your license in an administrative action by the BMV for a minimum of 180 days, with later court suspension for up to 2 years. Probation may last for up to one year.
A second offense will result in a minimum of 5 days in jail up to 3 years, fines of up to $10,000, probation of up to 2 and one half years, and a license suspension of up to 2 years. Other possible penalties may include the installation and maintenance of an ignition interlock device at your own expense, substance abuse education, community service, and attendance at a victim’s panel. Subsequent convictions will result in more severe penalties.
